Where There’s Smoke – There’s Fire

wpid977-Grade7Bonfire-83.jpg

What a blast!  We had such a fun day.

Today was the last day of Term 2 and the Grade 7’s celebrated with an excursion to their teacher’s property for a bonfire & bush skills.

Now you have to give a holla! to the girls .. go girl power … they hunted down & collected their wood and got their bonfire stoked first and then sat back and watched as the boys fumbled, played and got distracted, but finally got their bonfires cranking.

After enjoying the warmth emanating from their skillfully (well somewhat!) prepared bonfires, it was time to get some food happening …

“Yeaaaahh!”  Yes, he was very proud of his ’smokin’ fire.

The ultimate in male multi-tasking .. well!

While the idea was baked potatoes (above) I must give kudos to one adventurous “Daniel” for bringing along
a potato peeler, salt, butter and knife to crank out some wedges with his creative culinary skills (below).

From this …

… to this!  Yes, it’s damper & it was yummo! (bar the doughy bit in the middle)

and of course it wouldn’t be complete without sausages, now would it?

That there dirty boy .. yep!  he’s all mine :D

He happen to find a beautifully wet & fun mudslide and of course
being the leader that he is … so did everyone else!!

Now this was our treat!  Freddo frogs inside bananas cooked over our bonfires.

Mmmmmm mmmmmm!  … oh and of course there were marshmallows to toast!

Miss “C” … I love you.  I love your zaniness & zest for life … don’t ever change xxx

Celebrate Your Youth

Quick sneak peak …

I am dying to post the images from this special shoot but alas I’m bound to the confines of a protected folder till all is revealed (breaks into song – yes I can sing!) “… oooooohhhh baby I’m in chains ….”

Hold tight my friends …

Stop And Smell The Flowers

Today I accompanied one of sons on his excursion to Bunnings Warehouse to learn about money & environmental science.  We had a fun time and of course as always I took along my camera (I usually can’t post any school activities).

We ventured outside into the nursery area and I took a moment to step back and observe. I was delighted to turn around and find my favourite flower … the tulip. I love the tulip because of it’s rich colours and thick, uncluttered, simple & structured foliage. This gorgeously rich citrus toned one below caught my eye so as I stooped to take a photo I reminded myself to always “stop and smell the flowers”.

Can I encourage you today to stop and smell the flowers.  Life goes by soooo quickly – a timely reminder to enjoy the simple things in life.

Happy Queen’s Birthday

Well today we opted for a lazy family day to celebrate the Queens Birthday.

We played Monopoly together (yes, the Aussie one) and I managed to come up trumps! Yes friends, I beat Paul … holla!

I must admit that I seemed to score all the luck and poor Paul ended up in jail a grand total of 6 times (I’m still chuckling),  and was the most consistent & generous contributor to the free parking loot … which I very gratefully scooped up near the end of the game.  The kids enjoyed it too learning lots of business & life skills LOL.   Ahhh! fun times.

Happy Birthday Your Royal Majesty … and thanks for the holiday!

Remembering “Tim”

The sun shone as brightly as Tim himself and the blue sky was as rich as the imprint left by his gentle & spritely spirit.

Today his family & fellow class mates & teachers celebrated what would have been Tim’s 16th Birthday. With fond memories of a wonderful friend and much loved son & brother they gathered together to remember & celebrate, each sending off a brightly coloured balloon thoughtfully scribed with their own personal message.

You were only here for such a short time but you left an amazing impact on the lives around you & inspired so many … and you still continue to do so.

We miss you Tim … “Mr Messy Head” xx

Happy Birthday Princess

My beloved little princess turned 5 today and is looking forward to celebrating with her girlfriends at her up-coming “Princess Party”.

I can’t begin to tell you how much she means to me or how she delights every fibre of my being.  I could sit and stare and watch her all day and not blink an eye.  I sit and wonder at her beauty, inside and out, her creativity, her genuine caring & gentle spirit, her zest for life, her simple acceptance for the simple things in life.  I wonder about her dreams, her future – what will she become, what experiences will she encounter, what dreams will she fulfill, who she will marry … but most of all I pray!  I pray that she will never spend a day where she doesn’t follow God, that every step she takes will be in His perfect will and His protection.  I pray that she will be all He has destined her to be.  I pray that she will stay true to herself and cherish those qualities God has placed within her – that she would let no-0ne rob her of those things … and then I trust.  I trust God because I know that He loves her even more than I ever could and that He is more committed to her success in life than I am.  I thank God … that I can trust in that!

Pete & Bernice

In love with life & people, these two beautiful souls were not chasing love but God in His wondrously orchestrated plan brought them together in where else, but the House of God.  They gazed across and saw each other for the first time and their hearts fluttered … but it was a phone message that really brought them together.   Apparently injury prone Pete was in hospital after slicing his finger and called Bernice … well the rest is history.    But what stands out with this couple is laughter.  It’s the glue that holds the thousand-piece Love Puzzle together and keeps it intact for many years to come and their undeniable passion & commitment to surrendering their lives & marriage union to God.  By the looks of things, Pete & Bernice will be laughing together for a long long time.

We have been delighted and blessed Bernice to have had you teach all three of children and cherished the time we were able to spend with you both preparing for your special day and praying together with you both.

They chose a memorable sun kissed glorious day to declare their love & commitment on Easter Monday.

Pete & Bernice, thank you for sharing your special day with us. You are two of the kindest, sincerest, most attentive people and we were honored to document your day. We know life will be wonderful to you because you’re genuine & fabulous!  Much love and appreciation …. Paul & Cindy x

A few that stand out the rings on the tie ( guessing its a tie) make a perfect cover, the lace-up shot of her dress awesome, the flower girl with bride and bridesmaid speaks a thousand words, love the groom standing still with his groomsmen buzzing past, the group shot on the steps is perfect, the use of black and white or sepia in a few really adds to the feel of the pic too. All up a excellent job that any bride grrom should be more than happy with :). Keep up the great work Cindy xoxoApril 19, 2009 - 9:15 pm

Lest We Forget

_dsc53422

Isaiah 53:5 (The Message)

2-6The servant grew up before God—a scrawny seedling,
a scrubby plant in a parched field.
There was nothing attractive about him,
nothing to cause us to take a second look.
He was looked down on and passed over,
a man who suffered, who knew pain firsthand.
One look at him and people turned away.
We looked down on him, thought he was scum.
But the fact is, it was our pains he carried—
our disfigurements, all the things wrong with us.
We thought he brought it on himself,
that God was punishing him for his own failures.
But it was our sins that did that to him,
that ripped and tore and crushed him—our sins!
He took the punishment, and that made us whole.
Through his bruises we get healed.
We’re all like sheep who’ve wandered off and gotten lost.
We’ve all done our own thing, gone our own way.
And God has piled all our sins, everything we’ve done wrong,
on him, on him.

Are You Going to Finish Strong?

We can learn so much from this amazing man …

“My name is Nick Vujicic and I’m 25 years old. I was born without arms or legs and given no medical reason for this condition. Faced with countless challenges and obstacles, God has given me the strength to surmount what others might call impossible. Along with that, the Lord has placed within me an unquenchable passion to share this same hope and genuine love that I’ve personally experienced with more than two million people all over the globe.”
